The museums, exhibitions and libraries in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley showcase the region’s cultural heritage and local history.

Crystal Museums

The Musée des Cristaux in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc invites you to explore Alpine and world mineralogy through an immersive scenography. Discover exceptional pieces from the Alps (including Mont Blanc) and the five continents, including pink-red fluorite, smoky quartz, aquamarine, pyrite and many other mineralogical treasures.

House of Memory and Heritage

Located in a historic building in the heart of Chamonix since March 2011, the Maison de la Mémoire et du Patrimoine preserves the region’s photographic archives and organises temporary exhibitions.

It also provides a documentary resource centre, including a library and a historical photo library, to support research. To add to its holdings, the Maison offers to donate or deposit documents, which will then be classified, inventoried, digitised and showcased in its collections and exhibitions.

Alpine Museum

Located in the heart of Chamonix, the Musée Alpin traces the history of the valley and mountaineering through a unique collection of over 15,000 objects. Classified as a French museum, it highlights the evolution of tourism, exploration and local traditions. Currently undergoing renovation, it will become the Musée du Mont-Blanc, a modernised space with new exhibitions and a redesigned museography.

Lieutenant's House Servoz

Housed in a historic building, the Maison du Lieutenant introduces you to mountain farming, its skills, its local products and its environment.

Permanent exhibition: an interactive trail with an animated model, fun modules and antiques to explore the alpine heritage and the challenges of mountain farming.
Activities all year round: workshops, visits to mountain pastures and farms, tastings and discovery of Mont Blanc know-how.
