White Valley & ski touring

White Valley & ski touring

The Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley is a must for off-piste skiing enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities for ski touring and freeriding.
Signposted routes are available in the valley, particularly in the Les Houches, Grands-Montets and Balme areas. For a completely safe experience, enlist the services of a mountain guide, who will take you on a tour of the many combes and couloirs that this exceptional area has to offer.

Enjoy the unique experience of high-mountain skiing by exploring the Vallée Blanche! Accessible via the Aiguille du Midi cable car (3842 m), this glacier route is one of the most spectacular in the world. Very popular in spring, it is nevertheless a demanding high-altitude adventure. A professional guide and the right equipment are essential to make the most of this legendary outing.

Safety information

The White Valley is a high mountain route over glacial terrain dotted with crevasses, seracs and snow bridges of varying strength. This type of route requires a solid knowledge of the mountain environment or, failing that, the supervision of an experienced guide.

For your own safety, it’s essential to have the right equipment: an avalanche transceiver (ARVA), a shovel, a probe, a harness, crampons (particularly useful for the ridge)… And above all, never go off on your own!
